Just 'Cause It's Tuesday: The Why Aren't They Hosting edition

I'd almost kinda sorta come close to being able to consider watching the Oscars if these three were on the show all the time. Happy (as much as it can be) Tuesday, everybody.

Your Day to Remember: National Catfish Day

As long as we mark time by calendars, we will have something being recognized each day of the year. Here’s your notice of a day to remember for the upcoming week and how to appropriately honor it. Thanks to National Whatever Day for the help.

General Crap: My First Comment!!

When I started this blog, lo, these many days ago, I didn't know what kind of reaction I'd get, or if anyone besides spammers were paying attention.

However, I'm proud to say that I've received my first comment on a blog post. It's always gratifying to know that I've touched someone and started some great conversation ...

Sigh. Happy Sunday, anyway.

Rough Cut: Waking up in a strange place

This is an unedited first-draft selection of another e-book I'm working on. It began as a short story I had published while I was in college and has been worked on over the years (about 17 years or so; I was, um, busy? Yeah, busy.), and I'm finally getting going with that plan to turn it into a book. The book is called "Moonshine," and it involves an alcoholic radio personality, murder and maybe a werewolf. You know, the usual stuff. This is the book's tentative opening. Hope you enjoy, and let me know what you think. Thanks.

Rough Cut: A hot mess of a president

This is an e-book I'm working on. It's a sequel of sorts to my first e-book, "Shock Effect" (available at fine mobile devices here and here). This unedited, first-draft selection is from a collection of short stories that took place around the e-book's main story and will serve as a bridge to the next book in the series. They're designed to be like the after-credit scenes in the "Avengers" movies, only without the possibility of Samuel L. Jackson showing up. Hope you like it, and let me know what you think either here or on Twitter. Thanks!

Sports Are Everything: How hockey vs. nature shows the way

Lots of people say that sports get too much attention. But to me, they’re the only things that have consistently made sense — and they’ve mirrored a lot of events and philosophies in my life. This feature comes from years of writings, discussions and plain old sitting around and thinking about what sports means to me. In this edition, I write about what can be learned from hockey vs. nature.

Libations for Life: Superman movie edition

Much like cuts of meat and chunks of pricey cheese, every life experience has a drink that enhances the experience. Here is a guide to matching the right libation with any scenario. I'm planning on this being a weekly feature. Today's subject: What alcohol goes best with the new Superman movie.
