Your Day To Remember: Sidewalk Egg-Frying Day

As long as we mark time by calendars, we will have something being recognized each day of the year. Here’s your notice of a day to remember this week and how to appropriately honor it. Thanks to National Whatever Day for the bulk of information.

This Week’s Day To Remember: Sidewalk Egg-Frying Day

Origin: Each July 4, Oatman, Ariz., hosts a full day of activities centered around a contest in which participants have up to 15 minutes to fry an egg using the power of nature

Is it possible? Well, let’s just say results are mixed, although if any place could get hot enough to pull it off, it’d be a place that has an average July high temp of 95 degrees.

Official Song: I’m not sure what this is, but it’s got disco balls and fried eggs, so win all around.

Appropriate Gift: We’ve already got the eggs, so bring on its faithful sidekick.

Patron Saints: The Coneheads, who didn’t scrimp on the fried chicken embryos in their hospitality.
